To the 2011 Drogheda Fringe Festival!

This is the second year of Drogheda Fringe Festival and once again we have a full and varied programme to suit all tastes and ages. We are delighted to welcome Fossett's Circus to Fringe this year and there will be daily shows throughout the Festival down in Scotch Hall Shopping Centre Surface Carpark.

Our headline act this year is Duke Special with support from a local act (to be announced via facebook) who will appear in Fossett's Circus tent on Thursday, 28th April 2011 at what promises to be a very special show in the unique surroundings of the Big Top. Tickets are on sale in the d Hotel, Scotch Hall Shopping Centre Information Desk and also via ticketmaster.ie.

There is a full programme of music, poetry, art & new, drama, film, workshops and a sprinkling of comedy which are mainly free events. There will be great food on offer as well as great comedy deals for visitors to Drogheda. We hope you will enjoy Drogheda Fringe Festival and that you come along and be part of it.

Big Mountain Productions are working with the Craft Council of Ireland on a new series for RTÉ that will crown one amateur craftsperson, the Mastercrafter of 2011.

There are six shows in the series. The first five shows will place fifteen apprentices on an intensive two-week residential course in the discipline of their choice: Ceramics, Glass, Metal (blacksmithing), Textiles (weaving) or Wood under the expert guidance of the relevant Master of Craft.

A judging panel will adjudicate reducing fifteen apprentices down to five allowing just one apprentice from each discipline to take a place in the final five.

Show six the grand finale will be recorded later this summer with the winner of Mastercrafter of 2011 announced then.
